The Maitland Art Festival is an amazing opportunity for seniors to explore Central Florida's rich culture and history. This free event, organized annually by the Rotary Club of Winter Park, will take place from April 14 to 23, mainly on the grounds of the Enzian, a single-screen art cinema located in a three-acre Maitland enclave. With nearly 20,000 residents today, Maitland is known for its beautiful lakes, strong schools and the artist colony that architect and painter Jules André Smith established there in 1937. The festival will include a children's area with games, knotted dyed t-shirts, DIY art with the help of the staff of the Crealdé School of Art, a “quick drawing” art competition organized by the Albin Polasek Museum, sculpture gardens, live music, yoga for children and adults (bring a mat) and education on composting and recycling. Founded in 1961, the Albin Polasek Museum & Sculpture Gardens houses a fine art collection that focuses mainly on representative American sculpture, with more than 200 works by the American sculptor of Czech origin, Albin Polasek.

On Saturdays and Sundays, at the nearby Alfond Inn, where a selection of more than 400 works from the museum's Alfond Collection of Contemporary Art is exhibited.
